| In 1998, Dennis Kucinch cosponosred
the Hulshof-Kucinich SAVE act (HR 3215) that would eliminate the
tax on the first $200 of interest or dividend income for individuals.
He also supported legislation to provide tax cuts for married couples.
Saying "This tax cut is viable, fair and will benefit millions of
middle- and low-income Americans the most.", Kucinich's
plan did not pass. Now, in 2003, Kucinich voted against President Bush's plan which his says is "reckless fiscal policy" that would do nothing to put jobless Ohioans back to work. But his old tax-cutting partner, Hulshof, who backs Bush's plan, says the dividend tax cut remains desirable and would prompt greater investment and individual savings. |
