Congressman Kucinich has asked Levi-Straus to reconsider running an ad that features a model turning her jeans into cut-off jeans by laying them across railroad tracks. Kucinich believes that the ad may encourage teens to put themselves in harm's way near railroad tracks. At a press conference near a Lakewood rail crossing, Kucinich said ".. I believe that the depictions in this ad glorify, and therefore trivialize, the dangerous, unnecessary, all-too-often tragic activity of playing on the railroad tracks".

Levi-Straus representatives dismissed his request to pull the ad depicting a "pure fantasy situation".
